Female Suspect Ripped Off Necklace before Group Assault on Teen in Apple valley, Deputies reveal

Authorities are looking for a dozen teenagers and young adults who robbed and beat a 16-year-old boy in Apple Valley Park last month before using the stolen debit card at a nearby liquor store.

The 16-year-old boy was walking through Civic Center Park, located at 14999 Dale Evans Parkway, shortly before 9 p.m. on May 31 when he was approached by three females and nine males aged 16 to 25, according to a news release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

“A female in the group ripped the victim’s necklace off his neck and a male punched the victim on the right side of his head,” the release explained. “The victim fell to the ground and was repeatedly punched and kicked by the subjects. The female who initially ripped off the victim’s necklace, took his wallet which contained his debit card.”

That debit card was used about 45 minutes later at a nearby liquor store, and security footage showed one of the girls making the purchases with a few of the boys, all of whom investigators identified as juveniles.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, the minors did not purchase any alcohol.

The SBSD released photos of some of those involved in the hopes that a member of the public could identify them.
