A guy was detained for impaired driving after troopers discovered him sleeping behind the wheel of a vehicle with significant wreck damage at an Oakland County petrol station.
According to Michigan State Police, troopers were patrolling Groveland Township on Tuesday, June 17, when they stopped for petrol.
While at the petrol station’s parking area, they noticed a running vehicle with “heavy front-end crash damage.”
The troopers walked over to inspect the vehicle and discovered a man asleep in the driver’s seat.
After waking up the driver, police said they noticed several signs that indicated he was inebriated. He allegedly made “incoherent statements about his circumstances.”
The driver failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for drunk driving, according to police.
Troopers also discovered a loaded Glock 17 pistol in the centre console of the vehicle.
The motorist was detained at the Oakland County Jail. The matter is awaiting prosecutorial review.
