Dearborn Heights Man charged with Felony Animal Cruelty after Dog stomped to Death

Dearborn Heights, MI – A Dearborn Heights man is facing felony charges after allegedly stomping a 3-year-old chihuahua to death last Saturday.

Haseeb J. Habeeb, 54, of Dearborn Heights, has been charged with one count of second-degree killing/torturing of an animal and one count of abandoning/cruelty to one animal.

The tragic incident reportedly occurred at approximately midnight on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at a residence in the 4500 block of Fleming Street. According to authorities, Habeeb allegedly stomped on the neck of a 45-year-old woman’s chihuahua, resulting in the dog’s death.

An investigation by the Dearborn Heights Police Department quickly led to Habeeb’s arrest later the same day.

Habeeb was arraigned on May 28, 2025, in the 20th District Court, where he was given a $300 cash bond. A probable cause conference in the case is scheduled for June 11, 2025, at 9 a.m.
