Ypsilanti Man Arrested after High-Speed Chase in Stolen Car through Livingston County

A 42-year-old man from Ypsilanti was arrested following a police pursuit in a stolen car through Livingston County.

It began around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, June 12, on US-23 outside Fenton. According to authorities, police spotted a stolen vehicle driving southbound and pursued it.

The vehicle exited at Highland Road/M-59 and began driving west toward Howell, avoiding spike strips on Argentine Road, where it allegedly side-swiped another vehicle, causing damage.

The driver reportedly began driving south on Hughes Road, then ignored a traffic signal at Golf Club Road and collided with a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado.

Both vehicles were disabled, and the driver of the stolen vehicle was apprehended. Authorities have identified the driver as Jeremy Nelson, a 42-year-old Ypsilanti resident.

The Silverado’s driver, a 66-year-old Howell man, sustained minor injuries and was transported to the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor for treatment.

Nelson appeared in court on Friday, June 13, charged with fleeing, eluding, and receiving, violating parole, and concealing a stolen vehicle. He remains in the Livingston County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
