Los Angeles, CA – Authorities are looking into a hit-and-run incident that involved a pedestrian in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday.
Information remains sparse, leaving the sequence of events at 5th and Hills streets shrouded in uncertainty. Initial, yet unverified accounts indicate that the woman was participating in a current protest when she was hit.
Emergency responders from the L.A. Fire Department arrived at the scene, where footage shared on the Citizen App captured paramedics attending to a woman in her 20s.
Fire officials reported that the victim was struck by a motorist traveling at a low speed, resulting in a “isolated lower extremity injury.”
Video captured on Citizen displayed a police helicopter hovering over the downtown region, likely on the lookout for the driver who escaped the scene, neglecting to stop, identify themselves, and provide assistance.
At this time, authorities have yet to provide details regarding the vehicle involved.
On Saturday evening, a hit-and-run incident took place during a “No Kings” demonstration in Riverside, as reported by the Riverside Police Department.
A woman involved in the incident sustained serious injuries, but authorities reported that she was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
Video shared online captures the moment demonstrators approach a dark vehicle, which suddenly veers aggressively and crashes into several individuals, although authorities have not reported additional injuries.
A vigorous hunt is currently in progress for the driver as well.
