Weymouth, MA — A local man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly pointed a gun at another driver during a road rage incident on Thursday afternoon.
According to police, the incident occurred around 3:03 p.m. on Route 3 eastbound. The situation escalated when a driver noticed a motorcycle traveling in the same direction, weaving through traffic. When both vehicles came to a stop due to traffic, the driver honked his horn, prompting the motorcyclist to make hand gestures in response.
Authorities say the driver then moved his car towards the motorcycle, which allegedly led the motorcyclist to draw a gun from his waistband and point it at the vehicle.
The motorcyclist, later identified as 32-year-old Wiallace Yuri Alcantara of Weymouth, fled the scene and headed toward the Hingham Shipyard.
The driver contacted 911 to report the incident. Officers responding to the area located the motorcycle parked behind a business on Shipyard Drive. Inside the business, they found Alcantara, an employee who had just arrived for work. Both Alcantara and his motorcycle matched the descriptions provided by the driver.
During the investigation, officers also discovered a bin where employees store their personal belongings. Inside, they found a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun registered to Alcantara.
Alcantara was taken into custody and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, improper storage of a firearm, and disorderly conduct. He was later released after posting a $1,500 cash bail.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
