A Utah long-haul truck driver faces arrest and charges for reportedly possessing child sexual abuse material and engaging in inappropriate discussions regarding children.
Leo Jacob Stocks, 38, faces serious legal repercussions as he has been charged with multiple offences, including four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, two counts of assault by a prisoner, and one count of interference with an arresting officer.
Documents reveal that a sergeant from the Grand County Sheriff’s Office has been tasked with investigating CyberTips from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children. According to Kik, a social media and messaging app, the suspect was reportedly utilising the platform for the possession and distribution of CSAM.
The sergeant secured search warrants for the Kik account along with the related Google and AT&T accounts. Authorities in Maryland have successfully tracked down the suspect’s phone number and email through a distinct investigation. Authorities have identified the suspect as Stocks, a long-haul truck driver residing in Green River, Utah, who worked for an Illinois-based company.
On June 16, 2025, sheriff deputies discovered Stocks travelling along I-70 in Grand County. A traffic stop was conducted on him. The investigating sergeant informed Stocks of his Miranda Rights before engaging in a discussion regarding the alleged CSAM linked to him through the ongoing investigation.
Documents reveal that Stocks initially dodged the enquiries, but ultimately admitted to having CSAM on his phone. He acknowledged having inappropriate urges towards minors, yet firmly stated that he has never acted upon those urges.
Authorities executed search warrants on Stocks’ devices, uncovering four files of “prepubescent” CSAM, with one file having been downloaded within the last 48 hours. Upon examining the messages exchanged by Stocks on Kik, the sergeant discovered numerous discussions aimed at coordinating meetings with underage individuals.
In those discussions, Stocks reportedly admitted to having sexually abused an infant during his youth. Messages revealing his intentions to engage in the sexual abuse of young children were discovered on Kik as well. Records indicate that Stocks had been proposing to provide babysitting services for children in Green River, but those offers were declined.
“Based on the conversations had by the suspect, his admittance to having sexual desires to children, his attempts to act on these desires, and his employment allowing him to travel across the country, Leo poses an extreme risk to all communities should he be allowed to be released,” one of the documents reads.
Stocks has been taken into custody at the Grand County Jail, where he remains without the option for bail. He is set to make his first court appearance on June 23.
