Texas Woman accused of Helping Man wanted for Killing 4-month-old Daughter Evade Arrest

SAN ANGELO, Texas — A San Angelo woman was arrested over the weekend for allegedly helping a Houston man, accused of murdering his 4-month-old daughter, evade law enforcement, according to an affidavit from the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office.

Marilyn Mork, 35, was booked into the Tom Green County Detention Center on Saturday, June 21, on a charge of hindering the apprehension or prosecution of a known felon. She was released the following day after posting a $25,000 bond.

The man Mork is accused of assisting, 28-year-old Jeremy Fancher, was arrested the same day on a murder charge and remains in custody at the detention center with a bond set at $850,000.

The case stems from the tragic death of Fancher’s 4-month-old daughter, discovered deceased inside a dresser drawer at a Houston motel on May 26, 2024. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed that deputies were dispatched to the motel following a report of a child’s death. Fancher and the child’s mother, Destiny Campos, had reportedly lived at the motel for over a year.

Authorities in Tom Green County launched a search for Fancher on June 21 after receiving an anonymous tip that he was at a residence on Fulton Street in San Angelo. A TGSO investigator spotted a red Ram pickup truck leaving the residence, driven by Mork. The investigator noted that the passenger seat was reclined, obscuring visibility of any occupants.

When the investigator attempted to approach, Mork allegedly made a sudden turn onto Paint Rock Road and later abandoned the truck at a Stripes convenience store on S. Bell Street. Inside the store, Mork initially denied any knowledge of Fancher’s whereabouts. However, further questioning reportedly led to inconsistencies in her statements.

Meanwhile, law enforcement confirmed through a Fulton Street homeowner that Fancher had been inside the pickup truck with Mork shortly before. Confronted with this information and the store’s surveillance footage, Mork eventually admitted that Fancher had been with her and had fled on foot behind the store.

Fancher was located and arrested shortly after. The investigation remains ongoing.

Fancher and Campos both face charges related to the infant’s death. Mork is scheduled to appear in court on July 7.
