A tragic incident unfolded in Long Beach as a 15-year-old boy waiting at a bus stop lost his life after being hit by a car.
On June 11, a collision was reported to Long Beach police at the intersection of Palo Verde Avenue and Carson Street just before 3 p.m.
A preliminary investigation has uncovered that a driver in an Infiniti G37 sedan was heading west on Carson Street when they failed to stop for a red light at the intersection with Palo Verde Avenue.
An Infiniti collided with a Toyota Prius heading south on Palo Verde Avenue.
The collision resulted in the Infiniti sedan flipping over. A vehicle lost control and veered onto the sidewalk, colliding with a 15-year-old boy seated at the bus stop.
Tragedy strikes as a young boy succumbs to injuries after being rushed to the hospital. The Infiniti driver has been hospitalised but is in stable condition, while the Prius driver emerged unscathed.
“At this time, speed appears to be a factor in the collision,” police said.
The identity of the 15-year-old boy remains undisclosed. Authorities continue to probe the deadly accident.
