The stretch of unsettled weather across the region isn’t over yet, as a humid airmass and nearby stationary boundary keep shower and storm chances in the forecast through the remainder of the workweek.

For Wednesday afternoon, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected, primarily along and south of I-94. Some storms may creep closer to I-96, but the heaviest activity will likely remain further south.

While many of the storms will be typical summer showers, forecasters warn that severe weather is possible, with strong winds being the primary concern. The greatest threat for more vigorous storms is near the Ohio state line, where the Storm Prediction Center has issued a marginal risk for severe weather, rated as Level 1 out of 5.

As the evening progresses, rain chances will taper off, leading to partly cloudy skies overnight. However, the muggy, mild conditions will linger.

Thursday will bring another round of showers and storms, though activity is expected to be less intense than Wednesday’s. More showers and storms are likely Friday as a weak cold front moves through the area.

Heading into the weekend, dry time increases, but humidity levels will remain stubbornly high. With temperatures and humidity combined, it will feel like it’s between 90 and 100 degrees.

Early next week, a shift in the weather pattern is expected. Another cold front is forecast to move through, bringing additional showers and storm chances but also ushering in drier, more comfortable air for the middle of the week.
