Sebastian, FL – A 69-year-old Sebastian man was struck and killed by a Brightline train late on June 4, according to a police report released on June 9.
Dennis James Pollard was hit by a northbound Brightline train at approximately 11:30 p.m., about a quarter mile north of the Main Street crossing, Deputy Chief Timothy Wood stated on June 5.
Sebastian Police officers responded to the scene around 11:35 p.m., running north along the tracks to where Pollard was located, as per the police report. Once Emergency Medical Services arrived, officers secured the area.
The recently released police report is heavily redacted and does not indicate whether Pollard was attempting to cross the tracks, was intentionally on them, or if there was any evidence of possible intoxication. Deputy Chief Wood had previously stated on June 5 that these aspects were under investigation.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Pollard’s death remains ongoing.
