Southeast Michigan is in for a hot and potentially stormy stretch this week, with temperatures climbing into the 80s and possibly reaching 90 degrees by the weekend. The National Weather Service and the Storm Prediction Center are warning residents to stay alert, as severe weather could make a midweek appearance.
While Monday is expected to stay dry, storm chances return late Tuesday and intensify into Wednesday. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the region under both slight and marginal risk categories for severe storms—meaning isolated intense storms are possible.
Forecasters say that if the area avoids morning storms on Wednesday, conditions will become ripe for severe weather by late afternoon and into the night. The biggest threats include damaging winds, large hail, and even isolated tornadoes.
Storm chances may linger into Thursday, but by Friday, the forecast calls for drier weather and rising temperatures. Highs are projected to hit the upper 80s on Saturday and may touch 90 by Sunday.
Residents are encouraged to monitor weather updates throughout the week and to be prepared for changing conditions, especially midweek.
