Chicago, IL – A man fatally shot during an attempted armed robbery in Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood earlier this week has been identified by authorities.
The incident occurred around 10:48 p.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of North Artesian Avenue. According to the Chicago Police Department, a 36-year-old man was retrieving items from his vehicle when he was approached by a suspect later identified as 26-year-old Daone K. Feazell.
Police said Feazell brandished a firearm and demanded the man’s belongings. In response, the victim — who holds a valid concealed carry license — drew his own weapon and fired multiple times, striking Feazell.
Feazell was transported to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:25 a.m. Wednesday. An autopsy by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office is pending.
No other injuries were reported. The investigation remains ongoing, and no charges have been announced at this time.
