Police Arrest La Quinta Man over Alleged Threat to Shoot Palm Springs Protestors

On Sunday, a man from La Quinta was released on $200,000 bail after being suspected of making an online threat to shot individuals at a Palm Springs “No Kings” rally.

On Saturday, Edward Miranda, 28, was apprehended and lodged in the Benoit Detention Centre in Indio on suspicion of violating civil rights and making criminal threats, according to the police.

On Friday afternoon, the Palm Springs Police Department was informed of an online threat that was intended to target attendees at the rally on Saturday.

According to authorities, Miranda was identified as the perpetrator and search warrants were executed at his residence on Eisenhower Dr. in La Quinta and another residence in San Bernardino County.

Allegedly, Miranda’s firearm was confiscated at one of the properties, and he was apprehended without incident.

“We take all threats to public safety seriously and will vigorously pursue those intent on committing violence in our community,” Palm Springs Police Chief Andrew Mills said.

The investigation is still ongoing.
