A Plainfield woman is facing nearly a dozen charges after allegedly assaulting another woman she believed was having an affair with her husband, according to Connecticut State Police.
Giana Garcia, 27, was arrested after an incident that unfolded around 4:10 a.m. Sunday at a home on Church Street. Troopers responded to the residence and spoke with the alleged victim, who reported that Garcia had forced her way inside and struck her several times in the head with brass knuckles.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Investigators say Garcia believed the victim had a relationship with her husband, which reportedly motivated the attack. In addition to the assault, Garcia is accused of crashing into the victim’s vehicle, damaging its rear bumper.
Following the incident, Garcia initially could not be located but later turned herself in. She was charged with multiple offenses including home invasion, second-degree assault with a weapon, and reckless driving.
Garcia was released on a $15,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Danielson Superior Court on June 27.
