According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a head-on crash on State Road 434 in Oviedo killed one driver and seriously injured another early Tuesday.
The fatal two-vehicle crash occurred around 5:05 a.m. on S.R. 434 near Hammock Lane, east of State Road 417.
All lanes of S.R. 434 were closed in the area, but they have since reopened.
According to the FHP, a 2022 Nissan Altima was traveling east on S.R. 434 near Hammock Lane when the driver failed to negotiate a right-hand curve, sending the car into the westbound lane and directly into the path of a 2018 Jeep Compass.
According to the FHP, the front of the Nissan collided with the front of the Jeep, engulfing it in flames.
The driver of the Nissan, a 36-year-old Longwood woman, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to troopers.
The 34-year-old Orlando man driving the Jeep, whom troopers removed before it caught fire, was taken to HCA Lake Monroe Hospital with serious injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
This crash is still under investigation.
