Orlando Mother Sentenced after 5-year-old Son Dies with Fentanyl in his System

An Orlando woman has been sentenced to years in prison after her 5-year-old son died with hard drugs in his system, according to court records obtained by News 6.

An affidavit shows that the woman — identified as Glendalis Godreau Torres, 27 — was originally arrested in 2023 following her son’s death in the prior year.

Authorities reported that the child was discovered unresponsive at their residence on the morning of August 11, 2022.

“(Torres) ran to the victim’s bedroom, since they were going to be late for school, and noticed the victim was stiff, cold to the touch, and his head slightly facing towards the left,” the affidavit reads. “She started doing chest compressions on the victim and yelled at her boyfriend to get the keys of the vehicle to drive to the hospital.”

Tragically, the boy succumbed to his injuries after being transported to the hospital, according to court documents. Toxicology reports indicated the presence of cocaine, morphine, and a significant quantity of fentanyl in his system.

In a recent investigation, authorities revealed that a search of Torres’ phone and text messages uncovered evidence of her involvement in the storage and sale of narcotics from her residence.

A witness reportedly informed investigators that they had purchased, consumed, and overdosed at Torres’ residence approximately five months prior to the boy’s tragic death, according to the affidavit.

“In addition, the constant drug transactions performed via text messages were before and after the death of the victim,” the affidavit continues.

In a significant development, Torres now faces charges of aggravated manslaughter of a child. Earlier this month, she entered a no contest plea to the charge and received a six-year prison sentence.
