One Injured, Another in Custody following SWAT responded at Clovis Apartment Shooting

In a startling incident in Clovis, New Mexico, an 18-year-old is receiving medical care for a gunshot wound to his wrist, while another 18-year-old has been taken into custody following gunfire directed at a group of teenagers late last night.

Authorities arrived at an apartment complex on Rencher Street early Sunday morning, discovering that a sizable gathering of teenagers had been present in the parking lot when gunfire erupted. The individuals had dispersed and vanished from the location by the time law enforcement showed up.

Authorities discovered blood and bullet casings from a handgun close to a stairwell that ascends to apartment 201, along with a bullet mark on the building adjacent to a window of apartment 101.

Authorities are currently investigating a shooting incident involving an 18-year-old who was taken to Plains Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the wrist. Authorities pressed on with their inquiry, conducting interviews with those who saw the events unfold. A person injured in the shooting at the apartment complex has been confirmed to have been present during the incident and has been transported to a hospital in Texas for additional care.

Authorities have named the individual suspected in the shooting as 18-year-old Thomas Chavez, reportedly found in apartment 201. Authorities secured a warrant, enabling Clovis SWAT to track down and apprehend Chavez.
