A routine traffic stop along Interstate 40 in eastern Oklahoma turned into a major drug bust in the early morning hours of June 11, 2025, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP).
An OHP trooper pulled over a vehicle for speeding but quickly noticed signs of potential criminal activity. Following a probable cause search of the vehicle, troopers uncovered a significant amount of illegal substances.
In total, authorities seized 150 pounds of marijuana, 400 pre-rolled marijuana products, 200 THC vape cartridges, and approximately 3 grams of methamphetamine.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene and now faces multiple charges, including drug trafficking and possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute.
While Oklahoma law permits licensed individuals to possess small amounts of medical marijuana — up to 3 ounces — the quantity discovered in this case exceeded the legal limit by nearly 80,000%, not including the large number of pre-rolled marijuana products and THC vapes. The methamphetamine found in the vehicle is strictly illegal in all circumstances under Oklahoma law.
Authorities emphasized the importance of routine traffic enforcement as a tool to disrupt criminal activity and safeguard communities.
“This case demonstrates how a simple traffic stop can reveal serious criminal behavior,” said an OHP spokesperson. “The Oklahoma Highway Patrol remains committed to combating drug trafficking and ensuring the safety of our roads and residents.”
The identity of the driver has not been released, and the investigation is ongoing.
