A Murray man has been taken into police custody following a SWAT raid that uncovered a stash of illegal drugs and firearms.
Shannon Ashcraft, 52, found herself behind bars at the Salt Lake County Jail on Tuesday morning, facing a series of drug distribution charges. In a dramatic early morning operation, SWAT teams from the West Jordan Police Department executed a no-knock search warrant at Ashcraft’s residence in Murray shortly after 5 a.m.
Police reports indicate that Ashcraft was found concealed within a trap door in a back bedroom of the residence. Authorities discovered keys scattered on the ground within the trap door.
Upon closer investigation, authorities discovered the keys that corresponded to a black safe hidden within a closet, which was also linked to the rear bedroom.
Authorities reportedly discovered significant quantities of meth, heroin, and morphine pills within the safe. Officers discovered four exceptionally large swords, characterized by their straight blades and measuring over 18 inches in length, as detailed in a probable cause statement.
Court filings reveal that authorities discovered a bat within the residence, which featured a detachable sword.
Ashcraft faces serious charges, including three counts of illegal drug possession with intent to distribute, interfering with a peace officer, and four counts of dangerous weapon conduct as a restricted individual.
