A motorcyclist is dead following a high-speed street racing incident in the northwest Las Vegas valley, according to the Nevada State Police.
The fatal crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. on June 8 near the eastbound off-ramp at North Buffalo Drive and State Route 613.
Investigators said two motorcyclists were racing and weaving through traffic when one of them, riding a multi-colored 2012 Honda, collided with the rear passenger side of a light blue 2022 Honda Civic. The force of the impact caused the motorcycle to become entangled in the Civic’s right rear tire, tearing the bike in half and ejecting the rider.
The motorcyclist, identified as 37-year-old Michael Charles Scardino of Henderson, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Honda Civic managed to stop safely on the shoulder and was not injured.
Authorities said the crash remains under investigation. So far in 2025, the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Southern Command has investigated 30 fatal crashes resulting in 31 fatalities.
