Houston, TX — A motorcyclist was killed in a tragic crash early Thursday morning after being thrown from an overpass on the North Freeway to the 59 South interchange, according to the Houston Police Department.
The incident occurred around 1:50 a.m. as the rider was traveling northbound on the interchange ramp. For reasons still under investigation, the motorcyclist lost control and was ejected from the elevated roadway, falling to the area near Pierce Street below. Authorities said the rider, believed to be in their 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the motorcycle itself continued along the ramp before eventually coming to a stop.
The crash prompted a closure of the interchange as HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division responded to the scene and began their investigation. The cause of the crash remains unknown at this time.
Officials have not yet released the victim’s identity, pending notification of next of kin.
