FOND DU LAC, Wis. — A 32-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested Wednesday night after leading Fond du Lac police on a low-speed pursuit that lasted 14 minutes and covered approximately 2.5 miles.
According to the Fond du Lac Police Department, officers were first alerted at 9:29 p.m. to a vehicle traveling the wrong way on South Macy Street near West 1st Street with no headlights or taillights illuminated.
At 9:35 p.m., officers located the vehicle near East Johnson Street and North National Avenue and attempted a traffic stop. However, the driver refused to yield, initiating a slow-speed pursuit.
Despite repeated verbal commands from officers, the driver continued to ignore instructions and proceeded to slowly circle the Elms Acres Drive loop. Police deployed a tire deflation device, puncturing at least one tire, but the driver kept moving.
A second set of stop sticks was deployed at Morningside Drive and East 2nd Street. The pursuit finally came to an end after a successful Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver near the 1000 block of Bluehill Avenue.
Police noted that throughout the pursuit, the suspect drove close to the speed limit and obeyed traffic signals.
The man was taken to a hospital for a medical evaluation before being booked into the Fond du Lac County Jail. He faces multiple charges, including:
- Felony fleeing and eluding
- Misdemeanor resisting an officer
- Operating While Intoxicated (first offense)
The case has been referred to the Fond du Lac District Attorney’s Office. No further information has been released.
