Milwaukee Forge to Close Permanently, Lay Off 67 Employees after Failed Sale Attempt

A well-established manufacturer in Wisconsin, known for its custom steel forgings, is set to shut down its operations and will be laying off 67 workers later this year.

Milwaukee Forge, situated at 1532 East Oklahoma Avenue, is set to cease operations after failing to secure a buyer, as revealed in a WARN letter submitted to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.

On March 25, 2025, Michael S. Polsky took on the role of receiver for Milwaukee Forge, LLC and MF Real Estate Holdings, LLC. Following that, Polsky, alongside a financial consultant, has been actively engaged in the process of selling the company’s assets as a viable business under the oversight of a court-appointed receiver. In light of those attempts, a successful sale remained elusive.

In a significant development, a large-scale layoff and shutdown of the facility are on the horizon, with employee separations scheduled to commence on or after August 18, 2025. Effective immediately, all health care benefits for employees will cease on that date.

The organization has announced that it will permanently eliminate all employee positions, with no bumping rights applicable, as every role at the facility is being terminated.

Milwaukee Forge stands out for its expertise in closed-die and hammer forging methods, specializing in the production of custom steel components.
