Sanpete County, UT — A suspected medical emergency may have led to a fatal crash Thursday afternoon on Highway 89, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 1 p.m. near milepost 293 when a southbound 2005 Chevy Tahoe veered across the centerline and collided head-on with a northbound semi-truck.
UHP officials say the driver of the Tahoe, a 68-year-old man, died at the scene from his injuries. Authorities believe a medical episode may have caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
The semi-truck driver, a 62-year-old man, sustained only minor injuries in the collision.
No additional details have been released as the investigation remains ongoing.
