Chicago, IL – A 26-year-old man was shot and killed early Wednesday during a meeting arranged to sell a vehicle in the city’s Gresham neighborhood, according to Chicago police.
Officers responded at approximately 12:37 a.m. to the 7800 block of South Paulina Street after reports of a shooting. Police said the victim had gone to the location to meet an unidentified man regarding a vehicle sale. During the meeting, the suspect pulled out a gun and opened fire, striking the victim in the head.
The victim was transported to Holy Cross Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities have not yet released his identity, pending family notification.
A witness at the scene reported seeing the shooter flee and enter a nearby residence. A SWAT team was called to the area, and officers remained on the scene for several hours. By 8:20 a.m., the SWAT incident had ended, but no arrests had been made.
Area Two detectives are actively investigating the case. As of Wednesday morning, no suspects are in custody.
