A Torrance man is facing several charges after being identified as the person who reportedly installed concealed cameras in the toilet and changing room of a Hermosa Beach children’s dancing class.
Jourdyn Godoy, 25, worked as a receptionist at the Hermosa School of Dance and Music on the 1100 block of Aviation Boulevard, where cameras placed in wicker baskets were discovered last month.
According to a news release from Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman, he was charged on Tuesday with felony possession of child pornography as well as minor charges of child annoyance and invasion of privacy.
“To invade a child’s privacy in a place where they should feel completely safe is a grotesque violation of trust, safety, and basic human decency,” Hochman said. “We will do everything in our power to hold this individual fully accountable. No child — or adult — should have to worry about being secretly recorded in such a private space.”
His arraignment is planned for Wednesday in the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center, and prosecutors want to set his bail at $55,000.
According to jail records, the current bail is $100,000.
If convicted on all charges, he could face up to four years in state prison.
