Man Faces 26 Felonies for Alleged Sexual Abuse, Stalking of Underage Church Member

A Taylorsville man has been charged with 26 counts for having an illicit relationship with a 14-year-old while serving as the youth leader at a church.

Luis Fernando Trillo, 34, is charged with 27 counts, including eight counts of first-degree rape, ten counts of forcible sodomy, two counts of object rape, five counts of tampering with a witness, one count of aggravated assault, and misdemeanour stalking.

According to records, a 17-year-old victim stated that she first encountered Trillo when she was 14 years old. Trillo, the youth leader at her church, allegedly approached her several times, saying he “liked her.”

The victim told authorities that she became close to Trillo because she was “sad and needed some type of support.” Around August or September 2022, Trillo begged the 14-year-old victim to become his girlfriend. They began having an unlawful sexual connection.

After they started dating, the victim said that Trillo became jealous of the teenage victim’s friendships. One day, he allegedly seized her phone and “would not let her get out of the car.” She was eventually released, but the victim claimed Trillo had become extremely controlling.

“It got to the point where [she] could not defend herself because [Trillo] was so good at having conversations,” according to the paperwork.

In June 2024, the victim’s father confiscated her phone and found communications from Trillo. The victim informed police that Trillo allegedly urged her to “deny everything,” and she lied to her family, claiming that the two were just friends while denying anything else.

Later that year, in November 2024, the victim’s father observed Trillo conversing with his daughter and called the authorities. Trillo again told the minor victim to “deny everything and say no” to the police probe. During the police interrogation, Trillo had planned everything the victim said and even asked her to phone her family and accuse them of making her lie.

In January 2025, Trillo and the victim got into a fight in his car. The youngster exited his automobile and fled in her own vehicle. She assumed Trillo had left as well, but he followed her in his car for “30 minutes to an hour” as she was “trying to get away” from him.

During the pursuit, Trillo allegedly collided with her automobile at a signal. He followed the victim all the way to her mother’s workplace, then to school. The adolescent victim exited her car and began rushing towards the school. Trillo caught her. She didn’t contact the cops because “she didn’t want him to get into trouble.”

The young victim indicated that her breakup with Trillo was “hard.” After the romance ended, Trillo allegedly came to her school at lunchtime and sat in the back seat of her car. He followed her back to the school before departing. Later that day, he returned to her school and attempted to get into the rear seat of her car for the second time.

This time, the victim was with a friend, and they were able to prevent him from entering the automobile. Trillo allegedly pursued them to her friend’s house, where he went down on his knees and implored the minor to talk with him.

Trillo started contacting the victim with phoney social media accounts. In April 2025, he called the victim and informed her that he was “not calling to get back with [her] but that he was worried because he heard from people at church that she was being a bad person.” He also reminded the victim of their agreement that they “would not tell anyone what happened between them.”

Trillo allegedly told the woman in a taped discussion that if she “said or did anything, he would make her famous in the worst way,” according to records.

Trillo’s flight risk and ties to Mexico have resulted in a no-bail warrant.
