El Paso, TX – A tragic incident occurred last month on Interstate 10 East at Loop 375, where a 31-year-old man lost his life after jumping from a moving vehicle during a heated argument with the driver, according to a statement from the El Paso Police Department (EPPD) released on Thursday, June 12.
On Sunday, May 18, the Special Traffic Investigations (STI) unit of EPPD responded to a crash that occurred at I-10 East, specifically at the Loop 375 off-ramp near Mile Marker 34.
According to the preliminary inquiry, it was revealed that the driver and passenger engaged in a heated exchange while heading east on I-10, at which point Gary Raymond Arriola Jr., 31, exited the vehicle in motion, as reported by EPPD.
A local hospital has reported that he was admitted with serious injuries, according to EPPD. Just one day later, the medical examiner informed investigators that he succumbed to his injuries.
On Wednesday, June 11, the STI unit reported that this fatality has been classified as a “accident,” according to EPPD.
EPPD reports that there have been 28 traffic fatalities so far, a slight decrease from 29 at this time last year.
