Man dead after Suspect crashes into 6 Cars while fleeing cops - Sacramento Police

A man is dead and a suspect is in custody following a violent multi-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday morning in Sacramento’s Greenhaven-Pocket neighborhood, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

Officers were initially called to a home in the 7300 block of Farm Dale Way at 10:15 a.m. after a woman reported she was trying to retrieve her belongings and believed a man she had previously accused of domestic violence might be inside. The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Daniel Cunningham of Sacramento, fled the scene before officers arrived.

Cunningham, who was wanted in connection with a June 1 domestic violence case and had an active felony warrant for being a parolee at large, was spotted driving nearby. When officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop using lights and sirens, Cunningham refused to yield, sparking a brief pursuit. Police said they lost sight of his vehicle as it sped westbound on Florin Road.

Moments later, Cunningham’s vehicle collided with six others at the intersection of Florin Road and Greenhaven Drive, resulting in a deadly scene. One adult male driver was pronounced dead at the scene by Sacramento Fire Department personnel. Several other vehicles were totaled in the crash.

Cunningham was arrested shortly after the collision and is expected to face multiple charges, including felony evasion, domestic violence, and being a parolee at large.

The identity of the man killed in the crash will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office pending notification of next of kin.

The California Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into the crash, while Sacramento police continue to examine the circumstances leading up to it. Westbound Florin Road remained closed for several hours as authorities processed the scene.
