Man Arrested after Woman Shot Multiple Times while Holding Infant in Fishers

A 21-year-old male was detained after the Fishers Police Department received a complaint of a shooting near State Road 37 on Saturday afternoon.

According to a press release issued by the Fishers Police Department, the suspect, Giovanny Javier De Jesus De Jesus of Anderson, was identified by witnesses and fled the scene before officers arrived.

Police believe the suspect and victim know each other.

When authorities arrived, they discovered a female victim who had been shot several times. The victim was holding an infant.

Officers promptly gave assistance to the victims until EMS arrived and transferred them to a nearby hospital. The sufferer underwent surgery and is said to be recovering and in stable condition. The infant being held by the victim is said to suffer minor abrasions.

While authorities were looking for De Jesus, he surrendered himself to the Decatur authorities Department at 11 p.m. on Saturday. He was taken directly to Hamilton County Jail.

He faces two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated battery, one count of intimidation with a deadly weapon, two counts of pointing a handgun, and one charge of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.
