A Colorado man faces arrest after reportedly attempting to abduct an 8-year-old girl from a grocery store while her grandmother was present — on two separate occasions.
In a recent update, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest of 34-year-old Bradley Mikel Wilson on Saturday. This followed multiple eyewitness accounts of him allegedly trying to abduct an 8-year-old girl from her grandmother at a Safeway store in Littleton. Police report that Wilson approached the girl and her grandmother in the produce section of the store and “placed his hands on [the girl’s] shoulders.” He allegedly inquired of the grandmother, “May I borrow your child?”
In a dramatic turn of events, Wilson tried to escort the girl out of the store, but the grandmother’s loud intervention allowed the girl to escape and reunite with her. Authorities reported the incident. Wilson exited the store shortly thereafter.
However, authorities indicate that Wilson was seemingly resolute. Wilson reportedly re-entered the store and attempted to abduct the girl once more. In a dramatic turn of events, store employees are said to have stepped in and pursued Wilson out of the establishment. He departed once more, this time entering his car and driving off.
Authorities responded swiftly to the scene following Wilson’s escape, successfully locating his vehicle on a nearby highway. A suspect has been taken into custody without any issues and is now being held at the Jefferson County Detention Facility, facing charges of second-degree kidnapping.
Authorities confirmed that Wilson is currently in custody awaiting his initial court appearance, which is set for Monday.
Police report that both the girl and her grandmother emerged unscathed from the alleged incident.
