Man, 26, Arrested for Allegedly Attacking and Stabbing Elderly Victim in Stroud Township

A Stroudsburg man has been taken into custody following an incident on Tuesday where he reportedly assaulted a 60-year-old man with a belt and subsequently stabbed him.

Authorities have announced that Jerry Morris, a 26-year-old resident of Stroudsburg, is facing a series of serious allegations, including a felony charge for attempted criminal homicide and aggravated assault, along with several other related offenses.

Police responded to a call on Tuesday shortly before noon at Momento’s Restaurant, where it was reported that Morris had assaulted a 60-year-old man with a belt and subsequently stabbed him in the parking lot.

Authorities reported that upon arrival, the victim was found unresponsive and was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital.

Authorities reported that Morris was apprehended following identification by a witness as the assailant.

The individual reported to authorities that he intended to provide food for wildlife close to an unoccupied structure in the vicinity when he believed he spotted a friend resting at the rear of the building, unaware that it was actually Morris.

Morris reportedly assaulted the victim using a belt and a tree branch after the victim approached him, as stated in court documents.

The report details an incident where Morris allegedly seized the victim’s cane, struck him in the face, and attempted to gouge out his eyes, resulting in a puncture wound to his left hand.

Authorities report that Morris was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries before being moved to the Monroe County Correctional Facility.
