Heat and Humidity grip the Metro Detroit region as Storm chances linger through the Week

The relentless summer heat shows no signs of letting up this week, with muggy nights, soaring daytime temperatures, and the continued threat of scattered storms in the forecast.

Monday night will remain warm and uncomfortable, as temperatures only dip into the mid-70s, offering little overnight relief from the humidity.

Tuesday, conditions heat up quickly, with afternoon highs climbing into the low to mid-90s. Combined with high humidity levels, heat index values — or “feels-like” temperatures — will exceed 100 degrees for much of the day.

In addition to the oppressive heat, the region faces a marginal risk for severe weather on Tuesday, with the potential for a few isolated afternoon and evening storms.

Temperatures will ease slightly on Wednesday, with highs in the upper 80s. However, the humidity will keep conditions feeling close to 100 degrees at times. A few more storms are possible during the afternoon and evening hours.

The chance of storms will linger through the remainder of the workweek, with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible each afternoon and evening until at least Friday.

Residents are urged to take precautions in the heat by staying hydrated, limiting outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, and keeping a close eye on weather alerts for any developing storms.
