Suffolk County, NY – A man faces allegations of reckless driving on a New York highway while under the influence, with his two children in the vehicle, as reported by the Suffolk County Police Department on Thursday.
Authorities reported the incident occurred on the Long Island Expressway at approximately 2:15 a.m. Authorities report that Rasalaam Jackson, 35, is accused of not maintaining his lane and fluctuating between speeds above and below the limit.
Authorities reported that he was stopped close to Exit 62 in Holbrook. Authorities report that the police officer who stopped Jackson claimed he was under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
Authorities reported that Jackson’s young children, aged 1 and 2, were present in the vehicle during the incident. Authorities have reported that Child Protective Services were alerted.
Jackson faces serious charges including DWI, aggravated DWI under Leandra’s Law, and endangering the welfare of a child. On Thursday, he faced arraignment in a Central Islip court.
