Fatal collision between Semi and SUV closes U.S. 89 near Fairview

Fairview, UT – At least one person was killed Thursday afternoon when a semi-truck and an SUV crashed head-on on U.S. Highway 89 in central Utah.

The crash was first reported by the Utah Department of Transportation just before 2:00 p.m. It took place between the towns of Indianola and Fairview, close to milepost 293.

The Utah Highway Patrol verified that it was a tragic head-on collision between a semi and an SUV. There was no other information available at the time.

Between mileposts 293 and 297, both routes are closed, according to UDOT. It is recommended that drivers take the US-6 as a backup route. The closure is anticipated to extend for many hours, according to UHP.
