A driver escaped without injury after crashing his vehicle into Lost Creek Reservoir on Friday evening. The incident occurred as the man was heading out fishing after work.
According to officials, the driver lost control while rounding a curve on a gravel road. In an effort to avoid colliding with a nearby rock wall, he overcorrected, which caused his vehicle to veer off the road and into the reservoir.
Representatives from the Department of Wildlife Resources confirmed the driver, described as a younger and possibly less experienced motorist, was unharmed despite the crash.
A tow truck initially arrived to recover the vehicle but lacked the necessary equipment for the task. Authorities plan to return Saturday morning with specialized gear, including a boat and dive team, to retrieve the submerged vehicle safely.
No further details have been released at this time.
