Los Angeles, CA – Two individuals were killed in a high-speed crash just after midnight Sunday in the Granada Hills neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The fatal collision happened at the intersection of Rinaldi Street and Zelzah Avenue, just north of the 118 Freeway. LAPD officials say a 19-year-old man was driving eastbound on Rinaldi Street at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a retaining wall.
Both the driver and his 17-year-old passenger were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.
Footage from the crash site shows the heavily damaged Acura coupe being loaded onto a tow truck as officers investigated and worked to clear the area.
The identities of the victims have not been released pending notification of their families. The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.
