The woman who was shot by Detroit police after allegedly firing shots at a man attempting to repossess a vehicle has been charged.
Shaquanda Danielle Tankersley, 38, is accused of firing a handgun multiple times at a tow truck driver after he repossessed a car from her home in the 10500 block of Somerset Avenue just before 3 p.m. on June 12.
Detroit police were on patrol near Nottingham Road and Grayton Street when they noticed Tankersley allegedly shooting at the tow truck driver. Officers returned fire, hitting her in the upper torso.
Tankersley was transported to a local hospital, where she was treated and released. The tow truck driver and officers involved in the shooting were uninjured.
The Detroit woman faces charges of Assault with Intent to Murder and Felony Firearms. She was arraigned in the 36th District Court on June 16 and given a $50,000 bond.
A bond redetermination hearing is scheduled for June 18 at 9 a.m.
