Tragedy struck in the San Fernando Valley on Wednesday morning as a 12-year-old boy lost his life in a collision involving a car and a moving van, authorities report.
A crash occurred in the 4400 block of Woodman Avenue in Sherman Oaks at approximately 10:15 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Initially, details about the crash were sparse, but the LAFD confirmed that a vehicle collided with a parked moving van. Emergency services rushed three individuals to hospitals, while a fourth was sadly declared deceased at the location.
A 12-year-old boy was spotted in the front passenger seat, his identity remaining undisclosed.
“An adult female and a 10-year-old [boy] were transported per protocol for a fatality,” LAFD said in a public alert. “They did not have any apparent injuries.”
A third individual was taken to the hospital for medical reasons unrelated to the accident.
Authorities from the Los Angeles Police Department, along with Crisis Management teams, are currently present to support the family in need.
