A Daleville man and a Fortville woman were recently apprehended on drug charges after they were discovered engaging in sexual intercourse beneath the trestle on a section of railroad tracks in Alexandria.
Austin Petty, 25, has been accused with the following offences in Madison County, as indicated by court documents filed earlier this month:
- One count of dealing in cocaine, a Level 2 felony
- One count of possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony
- Misdemeanor count of public indecency
The documents also indicated that 24-year-old Katelyn Powell was charged with:
- One count of dealing in cocaine, a Level 3 felony
- One count of possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony
- Misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance, public indecency and marijuana possession
Officers from the Alexandria Police Department were summoned to a vacant property located off of North State Road 9 in Alexandria on the evening of May 30. After the officers arrived, they discovered a pickup vehicle in the parking lot with an open container of beer in the centre console’s cupholder.
The officers located Petty and Powell, who were both purportedly “completely nude,” as they investigated the area. After engaging in an argument, they allegedly informed officers that they were having intercourse beneath the trestle on the train tracks.
Powell was reportedly discovered to have marijuana and methamphetamine in her purse, and police reported that she appeared to be intoxicated on a stimulant. Multiple firearms were purportedly discovered in the pickup truck that officials identified as belonging to Petty. There is also a claim that Petty was discovered with a container that contained nearly 10 grammes of cocaine.
Petty reportedly stated in an interview with authorities that he had purchased approximately 10 grammes of cocaine in Anderson for $800 earlier that day. Petty allegedly informed the police that he did not sell cocaine, but he would “often share and use cocaine” with Powell and his associates.
Powell reportedly disclosed to law enforcement that he and his partner were both cocaine users and that they occasionally “sell drugs to individuals in order to generate revenue to purchase additional drugs.” The two were reportedly depicted in multiple texts as arranging transactions to sell drugs, as well as in videos of them using drugs while having intercourse.
Court documents indicate that the bonds for Powell and Petty have been established at $75,000.
