Wisconsin Dells, WI — A coordinated investigation by the Wisconsin Dells Police Department has led to the arrest of two Romanian men allegedly involved in an ATM skimming operation that targeted several Kwik Trip convenience stores across southern Wisconsin.
On May 27, authorities executed a search warrant in the 600 block of Vine Street in Wisconsin Dells. The operation was part of an ongoing investigation into credit card skimming devices found on Kwik Trip ATMs. Officers recovered numerous skimming devices, parts used to manufacture them, and other evidence — so extensive that much of it is still under analysis.
The suspects, 47-year-old Florin Dan Balan and 36-year-old Bogdan Alexandru Ardei, both Romanian nationals, were arrested on-site and are now facing charges related to the illegal operation.
The skimmers were placed on the following Kwik Trip ATMs during specific timeframes:
Wisconsin Dells (East) – 1310 Broadway
- May 17 from 12:15 p.m. to 7:55 p.m.
- May 22 at 3:53 p.m. to May 23 at 10:06 a.m.
Lake Delton – 523 W. Munroe Avenue
- May 22 at 1:38 p.m. to May 23 at 10:20 a.m.
West Baraboo – 617 W. Pine Street
- Date unknown; the skimmer was recovered by law enforcement before suspects retrieved it.
Police urge anyone who used the ATMs at these locations during the listed timeframes to review their bank accounts and report any fraudulent activity to their financial institutions and the relevant law enforcement agency.
As of now, the investigation is ongoing, and no additional information has been released.
