15-year-old leads Deputies on 100 MPH Chase; Stolen Car, Stolen Devices Recovered

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office pursued a 15-year-old and two other teenage passengers through Howell Township at a high rate of speed. The incident happened on Friday.

According to a Facebook post by the sheriff’s office, deputies attempted to halt a stolen 2015 Toyota Camry that was travelling eastbound on I-96 near Mason Road.

According to deputies, the vehicle fled and took them on a chase through Howell and Pinckney, reaching speeds of up to 100 MPH.

The 15-year-old driver and the two passengers, a 15-year-old and a 14-year-old, were apprehended by deputies in Hamburg Township after they executed a PIT manoeuvre.

According to investigators, the three teens are from the Kent County and Grand Rapids regions. The Toyota Camry was stolen from Grand Rapids several days prior to the pursuit.

According to the sheriff’s office, two of the occupants were currently on tether and possessed “multiple financial transaction devices” that did not belong to them. The sheriff’s office has been contacted by 6 News to verify the type of transaction devices and is awaiting a response.

The Kent County Prosecutor’s Office will review the report, and the three suspects were subsequently returned to their parents. This decision was made in light of the suspects’ minor age.
