Sacramento Police detain 2 after Burglary-linked Traffic Stop, 1 still on run

Sacramento, CA — A heavy police presence descended on a South Sacramento neighborhood Saturday afternoon after suspects fled from a vehicle connected to a burglary investigation during a traffic stop.

The Sacramento Police Department (SPD) said officers attempted to pull over the vehicle around noon on Fruitridge Road near Vista Avenue and Ethel Way. The driver and two passengers reportedly jumped out and fled on foot.

Officers quickly detained the driver, but the two passengers remained on the run, prompting authorities to set up a perimeter around the neighborhood.

Residents were urged to stay indoors and lock their doors as officers, K9 units, and a law enforcement helicopter searched the area. From the helicopter’s megaphone, police issued a warning to the suspects: “Sacramento police are looking for you with a K9. It will find you. It will bite you. Come out now with your hands up.”

Around 4 p.m., officers confirmed that a second suspect had been detained, leaving one individual still at large. Following the arrest, the perimeter was removed, and law enforcement cleared the scene.

The search for the remaining suspect continues, and police have not released additional information at this time.
