HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A disturbing discovery in a quiet north Harris County neighborhood has taken a tragic turn after authorities linked the death of a woman found inside her home to a deadly standoff more than an hour away in Leon County.
Deputies were called to a residence on Hillbrook Drive over the weekend for a welfare check. Inside, they discovered the body of a woman. As investigators worked the scene, new information connected the incident to a violent standoff that unfolded in Centerville, Leon County.
According to law enforcement, 38-year-old James Scott Grigory barricaded himself inside a Centerville residence and allegedly shot a responding deputy, striking him in the face and arm. The standoff ended with the discovery of two deceased men and a dead dog inside the home.
Preliminary findings suggest all three individuals — including the woman found in Harris County — lived together at the Hillbrook Drive address and were members of the same family. Authorities believe the deceased include the woman, her husband, and their adult son, James Grigory, who reportedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Deputies from both counties are working together to confirm the relationships between the victims and to piece together the timeline that led from the suburban Harris County neighborhood to the deadly standoff in Leon County.
The investigation remains ongoing as officials search for answers and examine whether there were warning signs that could have prevented the tragedy.
Meanwhile, neighbors in the Hillbrook Drive area remain shaken, stunned that such violence touched their otherwise quiet community.
