A Flagler County man found himself in handcuffs on Tuesday after deputies reported he unlawfully entered a home armed with a firearm and assaulted the homeowner over a debt, according to authorities.
A 34-year-old man from Palm Coast, Joseph Palmese Jr., reportedly knocked on the victim’s front door before forcefully entering their home by lunging at them.
Palmese informed deputies that he arrived at the victim’s residence in pursuit of a debt he was owed, according to the Sheriff’s Office. A coin set, watch, and ring were given by the victim to Palmese as payment, according to his statement, with the intention of pawning them.
Palmese later discovered that the items held no value and decided to visit the victim’s residence to reclaim his money and confront the homeowner.
Upon arrival at the residence, deputies discovered that the victim had managed to restrain Palmese on the living room floor by entangling their arms and legs around Palmese’s body.
Palmese has been taken into custody and is currently held at the Flagler County jail without bond.
