At present, detectives are of the opinion that the shooting was the result of a disagreement regarding the purchase of a vehicle.
IMPD reported that tensions increased as a result of a vehicle transaction between neighbors, for an unknown reason. The situation escalated, resulting in a physical altercation among numerous parties involved in the transaction.
According to IMPD, the individual who would be apprehended ultimately produced a firearm and fired at the two victims during the altercation.
The police are of the opinion that a number of individuals who were involved in the vehicle purchase were under the influence of alcohol. IMPD has stated that its detectives are continuing to interview witnesses, collect evidence, and gather video footage in order to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the situation.
“Basically, just make good decisions,” IMPD Captain Rob Rider said of the advice he’d give those looking to avoid similar conflicts with their neighbors. “Be responsible adults. If you’re going to partake in adult beverages, do so, but do so responsibly. Don’t have firearms around when you’re doing that.”
