Michigan Man Accused of Stabbing Fiancee to Death over Roommate Conflict

A 25-year-old man in Michigan has been taken into custody following the fatal stabbing of his fiancée, an act reportedly motivated by her perceived interference in his relationship with his roommate.

In a shocking incident in Waterford Township, a suburb of Detroit, Seth Thomas Martin contacted authorities at approximately 3:41 p.m. on Friday to report that he had fatally stabbed his 33-year-old fiancée, Mallory Myers. Martin reportedly encountered officers outside, his arms stained with blood. Authorities apprehended Martin and entered the residence, discovering Myers deceased, according to a statement from the agency.

On Monday, the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office announced that Martin has been charged with first-degree murder.

At the arraignment hearing on Monday, prosecutors presented further evidence implicating Martin. He mentioned that Myers were lying in bed together. As he observed her, she was engrossed in her phone, prosecutors revealed in a courtroom report from local Fox affiliate WJBK. According to prosecutors, he reportedly brandished a knife and inflicted five to ten stab wounds on her.

A detective informed the court that after the suspect dialed 911, dispatchers instructed him to apply pressure to the victim’s wounds, but he claimed he was unable to do so due to the number of wounds present.

“Seth stated ‘she’s right next to me — she’s not doing good.’ Seth told dispatch he stabbed Mallory in ‘the neck, the chest, arm a couple times,’” the detective said.

According to prosecutors, he told the dispatcher that he initially stabbed her in the neck because he “wanted it to take less time.” During a police interview, he recounted the moment after he stabbed her, recalling her words: “baby, baby, baby, I’m dying. Baby I’m dying. Call the cops.” Prosecutors claim he reportedly expressed having thoughts of murdering Myers with a knife “early on in their relationship.”

Authorities reported that he claimed she was creating a rift between him and his roommate.

In a striking revelation, Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald highlighted that domestic violence stands as the primary cause of death for women aged 15 to 44.

“Mallory Myers wasn’t a statistic. Her life had purpose, and she should be with us still. We intend to bring Mallory’s killer to justice,” McDonald said.

Martin remains in custody at the Oakland County Jail with no option for bond. Mark your calendars: the next court appearance is set for June 27.
