Bronx Mom accused of Killing 7-year-old Daughter disrupts Court Sentencing again

The monster Bronx mother who beat her 7-year-old daughter to death threw a tantrum in court on Monday, refusing to listen to the girl’s bereaved father and grandmother.

It was Navasia Jones’ second outburst that derailed her sentencing to an agreed-upon 15 years in prison for the brutal death of little Julissia Batties in 2021.

“I really don’t wish to hear what they have to say,” Jones, 35, screamed at Julius Batties, her ex-partner and the girl’s heartbroken dad.

When Bronx prosecutors attempted to complete the sentencing portion of Jones’ plea deal last month, she refused to enter the courtroom to face the consequences.

Jones pleaded guilty to manslaughter after beating her daughter to death in their Bronx apartment, allowing her son, who was charged with molesting his younger sister, to walk free.

“I took responsibility for the sake of my son being released,” Jones shouted as she was being dragged from the courtroom on Monday.

It came after she refused to hear Julissia’s father and grandmother deliver victim-impact statements in court, resulting in a shouting match with Julius Batties.

“Navasia Jones murdered my daughter,” Batties said.

“You have proof I murdered your daughter, my daughter?” Jones shot back.

Then she got into it with the judge.

“I don’t want to hear them,” she told Bronx Supreme Court Justice Joseph McCormack. “I’m not interested.”

The judge informed Jones that he was still allowing Julius Batties and his mother, Yolanda Davis, to speak.

“OK, but that doesn’t mean I have to listen to them,” the confessed killer replied, before she was ultimately hauled away by court officers.

The judge has rescheduled the hearing for June 23. He hinted that he was considering canceling the agreed-upon prison sentence and asked if Jones could instead be sentenced to up to 25 years in prison, the maximum for first-degree manslaughter.

“If there’s another outburst, I’ll order officers to remove you from the courtroom and I’ll determine what effect that will have on your sentence,” the judge said.

Julissia’s half-brother, Paul Fine Jr., was also charged in her death, telling police that he punched his sister eight times in the face — but he was released in March after his mother confessed to the murder.

The tragic case, in which little Julissia’s battered body was discovered on August 10, 2021, shocked the city and sparked accusations that the Administration of Children’s Services had failed the girl.

ACS had investigated the mother and removed Julissia from her at birth, but the girl was returned to Jones’ custody less than two months before her death, despite a known history of violence and abuse in the household.
