Hot, Humid, and Stormy Houston faces another steamy day with Thunderstorm risk

Houston, TX – Father’s Day in Houston turned out to be a stormy affair, with scattered thunderstorms and gusty winds affecting much of the city from the afternoon into the evening. The unsettled weather made for a wet and windy Sunday, and forecasters say more storms may be on the way.

According to local meteorologists, there’s still a slight chance of thunderstorms overnight, with rain possibly returning during the Monday morning rush hour — particularly in areas just south of I-10. Commuters in that region are urged to stay alert between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m., as storm activity could create hazardous driving conditions.

The pattern continues into Monday, which is expected to be another warm and humid day across the Houston area. Morning lows will start in the upper 70s, with afternoon highs climbing into the 80s. However, high humidity levels will make it feel closer to 100°F.

Additional storm chances may develop along I-45 and I-10 later in the morning, adding to the potential for isolated heavy downpours.

Despite the recent uptick in local storm activity, the tropics remain calm. The National Hurricane Center reports no tropical cyclone activity expected over the next seven days, and the tropical wave train remains quiet as we move into mid-June.

Looking ahead, Houston can expect daytime highs ranging from the upper 80s to mid-90s through Saturday. A possible shift to a drier pattern may bring some relief by the end of the week.

Residents are encouraged to monitor forecasts, especially during morning commutes, and to stay weather-aware as the unstable pattern continues.
